Ode to Filler Words

For this little poem I was inspired by the latest Write Tribe prompt  and couldn't resist writing a spoof on the article that Corinne posted about avoiding the filler words: perhaps, stuff, very, quite, literally, just, actually, in order, really and rather.

Sorry, Corinne! I'm a brat, I know! All in good fun!

Write Tribe

Perhaps it’s time for another rhyme
Some stuff that’s very silly and light,
Time for a ditty so sublime
Something quite fun and bright,

Don’t take it literally, I mean no harm
I’m just a kid deep down,
Don’t ship me off to the funny farm
I’m actually quite the clown,

In order for you to enjoy this rhyme
You need to be silly like me,
I’ve really gone and done it this time
Is there somewhere you’d rather be?

    1. Thanks, Carol. I had fun being a brat and rebelling by using those forbidden filler words.

    1. Thanks, Eli! What a funny coincidence that you and I wrote comments on each other's posts as the exact same time.

  3. Excellent. :D

I'd seen Corrine's post a bit late, so most everyone had hit on what my first response was. I just use that stuff when I actually need it, which literally isn't very often. I rather think they're quite weak. Perhaps different words are really better in order to convey my message.

    1. I know I didn't really follow the rules as it wasn't a 500 word freewrite but then I used all the forbidden words, so I'm a rebel anyhow, eh, Corinne? Glad you enjoyed it!

  6. This was a super post using all the killer words you were not supposed to use :) Make it 500 words and we will have a winner :)

    1. I don't think you'd like me to write something 500 words with all those filler words in it. That poem was bad enough! LOL!
