P is for Perfectionism
How many of us fall for the
perfection trap?
It’s easy enough to do,
I’m here to say it’s a load of crap
It’s time to be kind to you,
Perfection is impossible to attain
So you might as well not try,
Perfectionism can drive you insane
And plague you til you die,
Instead you should try to improve and
grow
While having fun on the way,
If you falter, just go with the flow
Tomorrow is another day!
Accept yourself and don’t compare
Spread your wings and fly,
Love yourself and be aware
Perfection is a lie!

Ah yes, perfectionism. Been there done that! It's not about pleasing others though (at least for me), but having ridiculously high standards in general. Great poem, as always. ☺ Yes, it can drive you insane - as well as everyone around you.
ReplyDeleteGreat poem and yes, perfection is a lie.
ReplyDeleteAwesome Cat dear! Loved that- made me smile - Spread your wings and fly - yes yes yes. Felt so inspired relaxed and happy by your post today:-)
ReplyDeleteYes! Thank you, Cat - I needed to hear this. :)
ReplyDelete:-) I needed to read it! At times, I too can get bitten by the perfectionism bug and drive myself crazy!
ReplyDeleteAhem, I am nowhere close to perfect, but the need to do it drives me crazy on most days ;)
ReplyDeleteNot only drive you insane but others as well! ;) I know 'cause I used to question everything that could happen, i.e., go wrong! ;) <3
ReplyDeletePerfectionism can drive me nuts but an even greater enemy is that I am NOT a procrastinator and can never put anything off for later
ReplyDeletethat's beautifully said. Loved the last line.
ReplyDeleteI am not a perfectionist but we have a friend who is the epitome of perfectionism. Needless to say, his wife is truly fed up of him :D
ReplyDeleteEver so true. I think I like being imperfect and not even striving to be perfect - Imperfect is achievable :D
