L is for Letter Writing

Do you like email? I’ve got something better
What about writing a snailmail letter?
Letterwriting can be such fun
Let me tell you how it’s done,

Buy some stationery or a card
Making a decision can be hard,
Such cute designs and so pretty, too
Why not treat yourself, to a few?

Get a pen and start to write
Early in the morning or late at night,
Writing with a pen is better than typing
Get that pen and stop your griping,

Share some news about how you’re feeling
Letter writing can be so healing,
Ask some questions about them, too
Letter writing isn’t just about you,

Put it in an envelope, don’t delay
Address it, stamp it and send it away,
If you follow the steps and see it through
Your friend will send a letter to you!

This April I am participating in the A-Z Challenge

and the NaPoWroMo Challenge NaPoWriMo where I will write a post and a poem for each letter of the alphabet each day in April except for Sundays.

  1. Oh, I have done a lot of letter writing when in school and college. It was such fun, writing long letters, decorating with stickers and coloured pens and buying different types of stamps... and then the wait for the letters. Missed out on letter writing for some years but now we are back at it. And that's because, sonny boy is in a boarding school and it's mandatory for him and us to write letters to each other every week. Nothing can beat the charm of hand written letters!

  2. Oh, that reminds me of my "young age" - had so many pen pals - that I wrote with. Nowadays more just for Christmas letters... But your wonderful "hymn to letter writing" inspires me now. What a joy it is to receive right- and write. Lovely, Cat:-)

  3. I haven't sent or received a letter in years - but I do remember how much fun I had doing so when I was younger. Definitely a lost art these days!

  5. Cat, your poem was like a wake up call! I have been meaning to write to you since I received your letter via snail mail, but, ah, but...I am so sorry for this delay. It was a different kind of joy receiving a letter after so many years. I promise, you will get to experience this same joy, very soon! :-)
