P is for Picture Perfect #AtoZChallenge
Some Facebook friends seem too good to
be true
You know the type, you’ve seen them, too,
Their families are perfect and never
fight
Their breasts are perky and their butts
are tight,
Their homes are spotless, a designer’s
dream
Their kid is the captain of the soccer
team,
They never eat junk food on a whim
They always eat healthy and go to the
gym,
They like to lounge beside their pool
They share their photos to make us drool,
Dainty toes are on display
Freshly pedicured that day,
They’re never grouchy and never late
Even in the wind, their hair looks great,
For we only see their highlight reel
Picture Perfect has such appeal!
Life gets messy and people yell
Bad stuff happens, but they’ll never
tell,
Because Picture Perfect is all for show
What really goes on, we’ll never know.I am participating in the A to Z Challenge writing a blog post for every day in April, except Sundays. http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com/

That curated social media profile can really send us on the bender sometimes! But it's really important to remember that all we are seeing is the picture perfect moments and not the whole truth.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good point we should always remember. It's human nature to share the best and not talk about the rest. Nobody knows what goes on behind the scenes of someone else's life. Then, there's the opposite - people who insist on sharing every detail of the day to day drama of their lives. That makes me sad, as they probably have no one to talk to in real life. That said, when you're upset about something, it can help to get it off your chest. Facebook friends can be every bit as supportive as physical world friends.
ReplyDeleteI get that feeling from Instagram... Such picture perfect locations and clothes and food. I kinda feel inspired by all this perfection loved your poem and how well you expressed the life online.
