Thoughts Are Powerful
Here is
another photo I took the other evening as it was approaching sunset on the St. Lawrence River.
There is something so magical about the lighting at that time of day. I like
the way the grass is silhouetted against the sky and looks like an ink brush
painting.
This quote
reminds us that there is no such thing as true reality. Everything passes
through our mind’s filter, a combination of our thoughts, mood, personality and
past experiences.
Our thoughts
are so powerful and dictate how we experience our world while creating our own
unique reality.
Here is a
poem I wrote on the subject of thoughts:
Thoughts of fear
and thoughts of hate
Can put our
minds in an awful state,
Self doubt
and self loathing cause such pain
Pelting down
like a constant rain,
You can
change the way you think
Like
stagnant water in the sink,
Flush those
bad thoughts down the drain
Turn on the tap
and start again,
Positive
thoughts, all clean and new
Are waiting
to be claimed by you!
What are
your thoughts about thoughts? I'd love to know what you think!
beautiful verses, specially the last few. The picture is lovely. I too believe in keeping positive thoughts, no matter how bad the day goes. It helps in keeping inner and exterior peace too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rajlakshmi. So true about keeping positive thoughts. I do try but some days are better than others.
DeleteI believe that your analogy was perfect, Washing the negativity away. We all need to be more aware of how our thoughts control us. As my brother-in-law always said -- when you buy the thought, you buy the lie
ReplyDeleteWhat a wise thing your brother in law said. So true that what we think we become.
DeleteI love this, Cat. So very true. And the picture is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Laurel.
DeleteGorgeous photo and your poem is excellent too, Cathy! "Flush those bad thoughts down the drain."
ReplyDeleteRight on! ☺
Thanks, Debbie.
DeleteThat was really thoughtful poem about thoughts! Indeed positive thoughts are so important for our well being. If only we could convert our negative ones into positive ones all the time!
ReplyDeleteI wish it was that easy, too and I could push a magic button to turn negative thoughts into positive. I'm getting better at it but it takes work to get that positive mindset.
DeleteLovely picture complimented by a beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Geeta.
DeleteI'm often weighed down by my own thoughts - of an unsuccessful past, of an intimidating future. Of late, I've tried to be more positive and slowly the world has started to seem brighter... I'll get there. It will take some time but I'll get there :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you. I know myself I'm often plagued by self doubt and negative thoughts but I know I can turn things around by focusing on the positive and being grateful for what I have and not longing for what I don't.
