I is for Ideas

Image
Today I had ideas for the letter I But I couldn’t get any of them to fly, Implementing them proved quite hard Where was my elusive Bard? Ideas just seem to fade away Without Implementation to save the day, So instead I write this sad little ditty A tragic tale that isn’t pretty, I apologize that this poem is flat Guess I can’t do much about that! I’ll do much better for the letter J Tomorrow is another day! This April I am participating in the A-Z Challenge  and the NaPoWroMo Challenge  NaPoWriMo   where I will write a post and a poem for each letter of the alphabet each day in April except for Sundays.

H is for Hour

Image
An hour = Sixty minutes =  Three thousand, six hundred seconds Precious time slips away like rainwater down a sewer drain Hours become days, become weeks, become months, become years In one hour I could: Do housework   Pay bills Worry and fret Procrastinate Look at Facebook  (A fun form of procrastination!) Spend time with the family Bake cookies Take photographs Scrapbook Cuddle cats Read a good book Play my flute Draw a picture Go for a walk with Loup With this precious hour  in my life,  I decided  to write this non-rhyming poem  for the A-Z Challenge. What would you do with your one hour? This April I am participating in the A-Z Challenge  and the NaPoWroMo Challenge  NaPoWriMo   where I will write a post and a poem for each letter of the alphabet each day in April except for Sundays.

G is for Gumboots

Image
Today is the letter G for Gumboots. I dedicate this post to my mom, Berni, who has many memories of wearing these type of rubber boots, growing up on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia where it is often very snowy, wet and muddy, especially this year after one heck of a winter. She calls them her “touch the earth” boots. My boots are very worn and old They’ve been through a lot, I wear them even when it’s cold I wear them when it’s not, Rain is not a problem with these babies on my feet, I pull them on and away I go Come get me, snow and sleet! Gardening is easy peasy When I wear these boots, They put me in touch with Nature And in touch with my roots They say I have no fashion sense But I don’t care what they say, I pull on my gumboots And I’m ready to face the day! This April I am participating in the A-Z Challenge  and the NaPoWroMo Challenge  NaPoWriMo   where I will write a post and a poem for each letter of the ...

F is for Fish

Image
Today I am doing the letter F for Fish. I am taking my inspiration from a print of a fish painting on our kitchen wall. I wondered what it would be like to be that poor fish, bored and stuck up on that wall all day long. Must be awfully dull. The poor fish has “no porpoise” as Lewis Carroll’s quote says. I decided to write a nonsense poem about this idea. Are you having any fun up there, Mr. Fish? What would you do if you had your wish? Would you go for a run or climb a tree? Would you go for a coffee or a shopping spree? Maybe you’d play some cards with your pals Or go to the mall and chase some gals, Maybe you’d go work out at the gym Or drink a beer with Joe and Tim, It must be hard to do nothing all day I’m sure you’d rather go out and play, At least no one will capture you A paper fish probably tastes like glue! This April I am participating in the A-Z Challenge  and the NaPoWroMo Challenge  NaPoWriMo   where I w...

E is for Emotions

Image
Today I am trying the prompt at NaPoWriMo Day Six and wrote an aubade , a poem from an old French poetic style of long ago.  Usually an abade takes place at sunrise and is about lovers saying farewell.  It was fun to try a different type of poem like this. I made mine into a ballad story form. I am also doing the A-Z Challenge and am doing E for Emotions. I am connecting the two challenges together and using my aubade ballad about the lovers since it shows a range of emotions from lust, love, and jealousy to hate and revenge. For my inspirational poster, I combined my emotions quote with a photo I took the other day of the sunrise over the trees.  “Why must you leave?” asks the Shepherd,   As he sees his lover rise, “I must be gone,” says Princess Brianne “To be seen with you is unwise.” Brianne dashes off with extra speed Ahead of the morning light, She cannot let on to the King Where she spent the night, The shepherd is unwillin...

D is for Drawing

Image
Today is the letter D and I've chosen Drawing as my topic for my poem and inspirational poster. Lately I've rekindled my love of drawing by sharing sketches on Facebook with my friend, Shilpa who lives in Mumbai. I've also been taking a life drawing class at a local community centre. I loved drawing as a kid and am trying to recapture those feelings where I would lose myself blissfully in a drawing and be lost in the moment.  D is for Drawing I loved drawing when I was a kid I’d draw every chance I got, It was something that I always did I really loved it a lot, Drawing is like therapy A way to escape the mundane, It is a special way to be I’m enjoying drawing again, Since I’ve started to draw once more It’s a fresh new way of seeing, I’ve recaptured the joy I had before Drawing is both fun and freeing!
