D is for Dreams

I took this photo on a trip to Toronto to see "The Wizard of Oz" this past February. I thought this mural painted on the side of a building was whimsical, fun, and very fitting for the theme of dreams.


Here is a poem I wrote about going for your dreams. It's never too late! Keep dreaming!

You’re never too old to go for your dreams
It’s more attainable than it seems,
Just start slow and make a start
Find out what is closest to your heart,
Stop waiting for some day and do it now
You are the only one who knows how,
The main thing is get going and make a plan
Come on now, get moving, I know you can!

    Great post and love the mural. I have some artwork with a message saying DREAM BIG, ENJOY LIFE on my wall that I got from pier one. I think that says it all! Good luck with the challenge. X

    Dreams ARE important; I'm living a lifelong dream to become a writer. First with my book, then writing for a magazine, and now with my personal blog. It's true--you're never too old. I finished my first book when I was 54.

    Love the poem, especially the 'start slow and make a start'. Often people don't do that - and then wonder why their dreams never become reality.

    I have a real thing for street art and that one is gorgeous. Cool little poem too. Me, always rushing in where angels fear to tread! Then I run our of steam so maybe I should consider your approach of slow, slow, quick, quick, slow :)

My family has a band made up of me on flute, my husband on bass clarinet, one son on tenor sax and the other on drums. #MondayMusings Acceptance of Loss and Change

This cartoon certainly touched a nerve this morning and triggered an outpouring of emotion that has evolved into this blog post. I sure miss my mom’s phone calls. That was our way of staying connected across the vast thousand mile distance between Ontario and Cape Breton.  My mom just loved to talk on the phone with friends and family, especially during the last few years of her life when she wasn’t as active anymore. She would come out to the sunroom, sit in her favourite chair (sometimes with an orange cat in her lap) and phone people. She used to put on the speaker phone which I never liked, but she found it easier and my dad could listen in, too. I used to tell her I wasn't a phone person and that I preferred email and Facebook are since I express myself best in writing.  What I wouldn't do for one of my mom’s phone calls now.
